We have been delivering and mailing books since we opened in 1957. The methods and rates for doing this change from time to time. Since books are heavy, the variations can be considerable and it is invidious to estimate charges in advance. If you order books from us, we will calculate the delivery charges according to the exact weight of the book(s), the destination, and the expected speed of delivery. However, here are some guidelines which may be helpful (and subject to alteration without notice):

We can arrange for same-day courier in central London. The cost for this is likely to be £12.

A second class parcel up to 2kg will usually cost £2.85. Please specify if you would like a parcel to be sent first class.

It is surprisingly expensive to send larger parcels by Royal Mail. We usually send them by courier, This is unlikely to exceed £10 although there are some destinations, e.g. Isle of Man, where courier is not an option and postage will be at Royal Mail rates. Courier deliveries also require a telephone number for the recipient, and a signature on receipt of the goods. It is wise to furnish us with special instructions should you be out when delivery is attempted.

Rest of World

Methods of sending books elsewhere in the world are:

Economy Mail – this can be surprisingly slow in Europe (especially France) and can take up to 8 weeks elsewhere, although it can also be quicker.

Air mail – this should be 7-10 working days, but experience tells us that this is not to be counted on.

Courier – This is not only the safest option, since packages are tracked and must be signed for, but it is also the quickest. Moreover, for packages over 5 kg it is almost always also the cheapest option. However, please note that packages cannot be sent to PO Box addresses by courier. Contact telephone number and signature upon receipt required.
