James Marriott and his co-author Terry Macalister have spent decades researching and writing about the oil industry. Their new book explores the history and social consequences of the UK’s oil business, its shifting relationship with government over the last half century and the current fragmentation of its ownership. James talks with John de Falbe about what goes into our petrol tanks, where it comes from, who owns it (and the related infrastructure) and who profits from it. The book is a riveting read and James eloquently conveys some of its bizarre and disturbing elements.
