Roddy writes wonderfully about Testaccio (where she has lived for over a decade now), its market and food culture. She’s interested in authentic, traditional Roman cooking – her book includes, for instance, two life-changing versions of pasta e ceci – but her book is far more than a recipe collection and can be read for and with huge pleasure.
