From the library of Marguerite Littman.

First edition, published John Murray 1963. Fine in fine, price-clipped dust jacket. Bookseller’s original sticker (John Sandoe’s) at bottom right of front endpaper and two marks on the free front endpaper. Inscribed by the author on title page: “for Mark and Marguerite – two of my far-travelling friends – but how can they ever tear themselves from the joys of Chester Square? I scarcely can: and so, with love & gratitude, their lodger, Lesley”. As is apparent from the inscriptions in several books that Blanch gave the Littmans, she was a close friend and regular house guest at 79 Chester Square.
